I had this idea for the painting from some basic images I had collated, I wanted to design this painting with the shepherds approaching the town being guided by the star overhead.
Started Under Painting the 3 Shepherd's Desert Landscape.
I started painting the basic colours onto the canvas, at this point not being to precise where things are going in the painting.

Having the sky completed at this point I started to paint the images, I am not too sure about the shepherd at the back. I have now to paint the herd of sheep, making sure not to paint them with too much detail.

The completed painting I am very pleased with, the interesting Moody sky is a perfect backdrop for this painting. The simple but yet detailed landscape gives depth to the painting, the 3 shepherds and the herd of sheep I feel make a nice composition.
