This painting I designed for a dear friend and colleague, it’s based around a little seaside place called Wells by the Sea. Here you can see the design and drawing completed.
Painting Over The Outlines
I traced the drawing onto a prepared canvas; next I painted over the lines so as not to lose any of the detail.
Started Painting The Background
I started painting in the background, making sure the distant houses did not have much detail, the sky was blocked in not much detail at this point.
More Detail Added
Working in the foreground I paid attention to the boats, adding reflections in the water.
Painting Completed
Before I decided the painting was finished, I added more detail in the sky. With the added reflections in the water I decided the painting was finished. I hope you like the whole process of the painting.
