Flower Arrangement Using Palette Knife

Flower Arrangement Using Palette KnifeHarley Johnson2025-10-29T15:14:27+00:00
Design Coming Together
This image I thought would make an interesting palette knife painting. I began with a pencil drawing, just drawing the basic shapes.
Design and Drawing Completed
With the drawing complete I traced the drawing and copied it to a prepared canvas.
Under Painting Shapes
Mixing lots of colours I loosely painted the flower shapes using a paint brush, this gave me a good underpainting for the next process.
Basic Shapes Of Colour Being Painted
Mixing the colours needed I started painting the shapes of the flowers, this was a slow process and technically challenging in places. Gradually the painting took shape, highlights and dark tones being added to the composition giving it depth.
Jon Painting Background
Finally I am painting the background with a paintbrush, leaving this till last gives me an opportunity to tidy up the composition where needed.
Painting Completed
This piece of artwork was a challenge, the palette knife strokes of basic shapes making for an interesting painting. I hope you have enjoyed the process and the finished piece.
