Gnome and The Fairy

Gnome and The FairyHarley Johnson2025-10-29T16:00:15+00:00
Design and Drawing Completed
This gnome painting was the 3rd in the series. The design started with lots of mushrooms being drawn, the gnome was casually asking the fairy at opposite for directions.
Outline Painted
Here the design was traced onto canvas and the outlines painted over.
Started Under Painting
I started the underpainting and immediately felt the composition was not quite right, I decided on a few changes.
Blocking Out With Acrylic Paint
Fortunately underpainting with acrylic paint has its advantages, it was easy to block out the painting and I started looking at improving the composition.
Adding New Shapes Of Colour
A started drawing with paint new shapes, which in my opinion was better for the design.
Jon Painting
Here you can see me painting the additional shapes, the composition I felt was less complicated and was going to improve the whole painting.
Completed Painting
Here is the completed painting, changing the design part way through the painting is not something I do very regularly, however this was needed I felt. I hope you liked the whole process of the painting.
