Design and Drawing Complete
I wanted to paint a winter scene, adding the log cabin in the landscape and the figures walking towards it gives the composition depth and a point of interest. I designed the painting and traced it onto canvas.
Underpainting Started
I Started underpainting the background, blocking in the cabin and horizon line behind it. This did that require much detail at this point.
Underpainting Basic Shapes and Colours
I continued painting basic shapes, blocking in the figures so as not to lose the detail.
Adding More Detail
I started having more detail, including adding different tones in the snow. Making sure that some of the colour in the sky was reflected in the water. Adding the warm colours in the snow and the vegetation gave the painting different points of interest.

Painting Completed
Adding final bits of detail completed the painting. I am pleased with the finished composition and this little winter scene was complete.
