Vegetable Still Life

Vegetable Still LifeHarley Johnson2025-11-05T13:55:17+00:00
Design and Drawing Completed
I put together composition of vegetables, here you can see I have completed the design and painting stage. The composition I feel is interesting with lots of colour and shapes.
Jon Drawing
Here you can see how I work, lots of different pieces of photographs around me as I decide where they are going to be drawn in the composition.
Background Painted
Here you can see the drawing traced onto canvas and I started underpainting the background.
Blocking In Basic Shapes
I started painting the basic shapes, no detail needed at this point.
More Shapes Being Added
Adding more paint and some basic shapes, is giving the painting some depth.
Composition Coming Together
Now the underpainting is completed, I can see the vegetables are taking shape.
Jon Painting
Here you can see me painting, the different tones of colour already mixed on my palate. The design of my mouth sticks allows me to alter the angle of the paintbrush and achieve different strokes of paint.
Darks and Light Tones Added
Dark and light are being added to give the painting more depth and interest.
Painting Completed
After all the detail is added I can finally say the painting is completed. It was something different and enjoyed the experience, I hope you did too.
