Design and Drawing Complete
This was my 2nd painting using acrylic paint, it was interesting to use the water-based medium.
The design and drawing of the composition is now completed, in my opinion there is lots of interest for the viewers eye.
Drawing Ready For Tonal Study
I then traced the design onto canvas and painted the outline in acrylic paint.
Adding Dark Tones
I used a loose mixture of raw umber and water to block in the dark tones of the composition, this gave me an idea of where the highlights and lighter tones will be added.
Dark Colours Block In
I mixed colours for the sky and the sunset, carefully blending them where the colours changed. Mixing dark tones of colour for each building and the foreground, applying them to give depth.
Light and Dark Colours Added
Carefully blocking in light and dark tones.
Jon Blocking In Colour
I then mixed colours for the figures in the composition, adding the figure going into the building on the stairway to give an extra point of interest.
Completed Café Scene
I was pleased by the results of this painting, using this new medium is different. Hope you like seeing the construction of the painting and viewing the finished piece.
