I wanted to create an atmospheric winter scene, I decided to include some wildlife as a point of interest to the composition.
Design Completed
The design at this point only needed some basic shapes and horizon line, making sure the wildlife were in proportion.
Started Under Painting
I started underpainting in the background making sure the horizon was visible, some basic shapes of trees were added.
Continuing Under Painting
I continued underpainting, progressing forward giving the painting some depth. Reminding myself of the basic shapes of the wildlife.
Detail Painting Stage
Started detailed painting making sure that the images in the foreground were more detailed, this gives the painting more depth. Adding highlights and shadows which brought the composition together.
Painting Complete
I am pleased with the painting, a simple yet effective winter landscape that had atmosphere and interest. I hope you enjoyed the painting and how it was created.
