Blocking In Landscape Details
This was my first painting using a palette knife for a landscape. I loosely painted the horizon and added basic shapes of colour in the foreground. Making sure the brushstrokes were giving the illusion of depth. Mixing the blue colours I painted the sky, then adding shades of grey for the clouds.
I mixed various tones of greens and adding black for the darker tones. Blocking in the basic shapes of dark colour, being careful not to add any detail at this point. I then started adding shapes of the trees working dark to light. Making sure the paint being applied was the only detail needed.

The foreground of my next part of the painting to be worked on, I mixed various tones of greens and browns, being careful to not add much detail I progressed to paint the foreground landscape with various shapes and points of interest. Always making sure that the paint applied gave the illusion of depth.

Here you can see the painting finally blocked in, the paint applied carefully gives the painting a sense of depth and various points of interest.
Painting Completed
I am very pleased with the completed painting, the application of paint using apart knife gives an illusion like no other. Each stroke of the knife needs to be thought of and once applied left alone. I added red specks in the horizon to give an added point of interest.
