Design and Drawing Completed
I painted this owl in-flight for my Brother and his Wife, the detail in the feathers and capturing this beautiful birds likeness was going to be a challenge. Here the drawing is now complete.
Drawing Traced and Outlined With Paint
The drawing was traced onto a canvas, and I went over the lines with paint so as not to lose the detail when painting.
Blocking In Basic Colour
I blocked in the background and started underpainting the basic shapes and tones of the wings and body.
Adding More Detail
Here I started with the detail painting, keeping the wings not looking flat was quite a challenge.
Adding More Detail
Adding more detail around the painting, I could see the wings taking shape, adding some tones to the tree trunk made a point of interest.
Painting Completed
Here is the completed painting, the intricate detail in the wings and body was well worth doing. I hope you enjoyed seeing the development and finish painting.
