Owl In Flight Over Fields

Owl In Flight Over FieldsHarley Johnson2025-11-05T11:46:14+00:00
Image Traced and Outline Painted
I under painted the background and traced the drawing onto the canvas. Not much detail was needed to be drawn at this point.
Adding Simple Shapes Of Colour
I started to loosely paint the background, keeping the colours light towards the horizon. Adding loose shapes of a tree line on the horizon, no detail needed. I started introducing colour and tones in the background fields, just an indication of colour no details needed.
Adding Colour and More Shapes
As I worked forward I painted in dark shapes and tones of colour. Working in the water with similar colours used in the skyline as a reflection.
Adding Colour To The Owl
I blocked the underpainting for the owl, then switched to more detailed painting of the landscape. Once this was done, I continued with the detailed painting of the owl.
Painting Completed
The final sessions of this painting was painting the highlights; I also included any dark tones where needed. I enjoyed this little painting, I hope you enjoyed the process of it being painted.
