This painting I wanted the main figure looking across the landscape at the Sunset. I added a lone giraffe as another point of interest.
Design completed.
The drawing and design are now complete, the rest of the detail will be in the painting.

I wanted to try and paint the main subjects in the painting first so that they are not going to get unrecognisable when under painting the rest of the picture.

The basic colours and tones are now completed.
Continuing detail painting.
The colours and tones give the painting depth and interest. The trees near the giraffe are giving me a little concerned, as I do not want to take too much detail on the rest of the painting. Also not wanting to put too much detail in the foreground at this point.

I am enjoy adding the contrasts and tones in this painting, the little bit of detail taking the eye of its own little journey through the landscape.

This painting has been a challenge but yet a complete joy to accomplish. I have wanted to paint this landscape scene for a while, the silhouettes give a sense of depth and the loan Massai warrior standing proud and regal looking into the setting sun gives the painting a sense of meaning in my opinion.
